Introducing...The Art of EMFADA

At last the new century brings a new art movement…’Emfadaism’.
‘Emfada’ founded and fronted by the young ambitious artist ‘Mairead’initially
began back in the mid 90’s but it’s only beginning to see the light
of day… or should we say the light of nite. Yes… Fine Art and the art
of music collide!
On the very subject of her oeuvre she exclaimed “I’m sorry but I needed
so badly to be free. I had no choice other than to merge them!”.
Mairead who studied Art at Belfast’s University of Ulster explained
how she had been torn between the fine art of painting and the
art of music… up to the point that it almost destroyed her own
self-belief as an Artist…”At first I was afraid, I was petrified I kept
thinking no one would ever take my work seriously… but then I met
up with my very first art teacher from school who I hadn’t seen
in 7 years and told her what I was doing. She told me I’d cracked
it wide open!”.

*When I asked Mairead about future art/music plans and expectations
she explained how
“the status of the artist is often uncertain… that I’m fully aware of.
My life is insignificant… but my life is art and art is my life. I just
don’t want to paint pretty pictures and sing silly little love songs.
I want a true reflection. Basically the most important thing is that
I remain true to the self. My future status within art society is irrelevant”.

The dualism of Mairead’s art and life is again evident in her lyrics
which is what makes She’s currently getting ready to introduce her
Emfada art movement throughout Scotland via her tour
entitled ‘The Mairead Parade’.
(It will involve a stylish combination of electro-pop music
with theatre/dance/visuals simultaneously with her fine art exhibition).
Let’s hope she gets a warm reception.
